Durante algum tempo eu tive dúvidas sobre a melhor idade para as crianças fazerem determinadas actividades domésticas.  Embora eu me lembrasse de aquilo q eu fazia aos 10 anos, parece que hoje nós acabamos por ensinar algumas atividades tarde demais porque achamos que ainda são muito crianças para algumas tarefas.
No entanto, é possível fazer as crianças participarem nas atividades domésticas, ensinando-as a crescerem e fazendo-as sentirem-se parte de um lar. Naturalmente que as atividades mais complexas devem ser feitas pelas crianças mais velhas, mas só quando elas tentam é que as coisas são preendidas. É muito importante "colocar as mãos na massa", para aprender. E muitas vezes elas nos surpreendem. A minha filha mais nova aprendeu várias tarefas mais cedo do que a minha filha mais velha, pois via a irmã fazer e tentava para a imitar. Naturalmente que não realizava as tarefas de forma perfeita, mas com o tempo foi aperfeiçoando. E tudo poeque queria imitar a irmã mais velha!
Eis algumas atividades que as crianças podem fazer. A lista contém tarefas muito simples, para que aprendam a colaborar em casa.
- por a mesa
- tirar a mesa e limpar os individuais
- regar as plantas
- enxugar a louça
- retirar os sacos do lixo e colocar sacos limpos
- levar a roupa suja para o cesto
- ajudar a tirar a roupa da máquina para estender
- fazer a cama
- arrumar os brinquedos do quarto
- varrer o chão
- aspirar uma divisão da casa
- colocar louça na máquina
- ajudar a preparar as refeições
- arrumar a sala
- arrumar as casas de banho
- sacudir tapetes
- levar o lixo ao contentor
- dobrar roupa para passar

Todos os moradores de uma casa devem colaborar nas atividades domésticas. É importante desenvolver o espírito de entreajuda e espírito de equipa. Educar é criar estes valores!
